Protocols for Visiting Trainees

When You First Arrive at Lackland AFB:

To drive on base, you must obtain a valid pass. You must present your drivers license, proof of insurance coverage and a valid vehicle registration. All visitors must stop at the Security Gate to obtain a LAFB Vehicle Pass. San Antonio MapYour signature on the pass is your consent for a search to be conducted if you're stopped for any traffic violation. You can not get on base without a pass! The pass needs to be displayed on the drivers side dash of your car, in clear view for the security police to see.

Remember that a visitors pass was sent to you in the mail by your airman. If you plan to drive on Lackland AFB, please bring the pass with you and be sure that you sign where indicated. If you need assistance with your car pass, please feel free to call the BMT Reception Center.

The BMT Reception Center:

The Reception Center is located on Carswell Avenue and should be your first stop on Lackland AFB. When you enter the base on the west side (from Valley Hi Drive), go to the first traffic light and turn to the right. The Reception Center is approximately 5 blocks down on the left hand side.

Weekly Schedule of Events:

This schedule is for a standard 5-day work week. In the event your airman's graduation week contains a holiday, several things will change. All times are subject to change based on training needs.

Closed to the Public
Be sure sign in at the BMT Reception Center. This is necessary only one time for the rest of the week.
7:30 am - Reception Center doors open
7:45 am - First Events Briefing - 45 minutes
9:00 am - Airman's Run - Back of Reception Center
11:00 am - Second Events Briefing - 45 minutes
1:00 pm - Flights are marched to Reception Center for Airman's Coin Ceremony. 30 minutes
1:30 pm - Retreat Ceremony start. 30 minutes
2:15 pm - Airmen released for base liberty with families.
7:30 pm - Airmen due back in dormitories.
7:00 a.m - Doors open
7:15 a.m. - Events briefing in the auditorium
7:30 a.m. - Buses begin to depart from the to the Parade Grounds, last bus departs at 8:45am
9:00 a.m. - Graduation Parade Ceremony begins
10:15 a.m. - Squadron Open House
12:00 p.m. - Amn/Spouse/Parent Orientation
1:00 p.m. - Amn/Spouse/Parent Orientation
2:00 p.m. - Town Pass
7:30 p.m. - Airmen due back to their dorms.
SATURDAY: (Town Pass!)
9:00 a.m. - Airmen are released to the Reception Center for town pass (delays can & do occur depending on training requirements).
Graduation & Retreat Videos are sold in the BMT Reception Center AAFES Snack Bar from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. only.
7:30 p.m. - Curfew - all airmen are due back inside their dormitory.
Church services are held at various times. It may be possible for you to attend the services too. Ask your airman which service they will be attending and to make the necessary arrangements. Visitors must meet their Airmen at the church.
Note: Attending church services does not equal base liberty! If an Airman attends an early service, they must return to their Squadron immediately afterwards. Visitors may NOT go to the Squadron area to pickup or drop off Airmen for church.
9:00 a.m. - Airmen are released to the Reception Center for base liberty.
6:00pm - All Airmen due back in dorms unless otherwise instructed by their Training Instructor
  1. There are no visitations allowed prior to the Airman's Coin/Retreat Ceremonies on Thursday of the 6th week of training.
  2. Only one family member is required to sign in at the BMT Reception Center.
  3. Airmen will be released for Base Liberty and visitation upon completion of the Graduation Ceremony.
  4. Visitors arriving early are reminded that airmen are not allowed to have visitations until after retreat ceremonies.
  5. On Thursdays, there will be an Airman's Coin/Retreat Ceremony conducted in the rear parking lot of the Reception Center. This ceremony shows respect to our Nations Flag and signifies the official end of the duty day. This is a serious ceremony and you are asked to show the highest level of respect during this event. Picture taking is allowed and encouraged! A professional video recording will be shot and will be available for purchase at the Graduation Parade Video sales table.
  6. Visitation and Base Liberty begins immediately following the Graduation Parade Ceremony on Friday. However, Airmen may not leave Lackland AFB until 2:00 p.m. . An airman's training and graduation can be delayed for a variety of reasons such as performance, medical, conduct, attitude, etc. Therefore, we recommend that you purchase refundable airline tickets. Additionally, if you plan to attend the Graduation Ceremony, please notify your airman as soon as you decide.
